Amideast is hiring English Language Teachers
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Amideast Tunisia seeks English-speaking university graduates, with TEFL certification and relevant teaching experience to join our exceptional team of English Language Instructors. Our English Language Instructors utilize learner-centric methods to provide instruction in General English, Business English, Test Preparation, and English for Specific Purposes (Medical, Legal, Aviation, etc.) to classes of 12-16 students. Amideast provides English Language training to young learners and adults alike, as well as customized off-site classes to a variety of corporate and institutional clients. Our public and contract courses run year-round, with peak periods in the afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
Instructors will be remunerated on an hourly basis. Instructors must therefore be set up as self-employed and hold their own tax identification number or be employed with a Tunisian Education Ministry and have permission from their employer to work with Amideast.
This position includes primarily weekday and weekend instruction for youth at Amideast's office in Sousse, as well as offsite trainings in Sfax, Monastir, and/or Mahdia. Additional hours on and offsite, for youth and adult clients, may be available upon course demand (based on enrollment numbers).
Course Delivery
- Develop a thorough understanding of all Amideast course offerings and ensure that each course delivered, whether in-person or online, adheres to principles of adult or young learner language acquisition within a communicative approach
- Select and adapt materials and resources that engage learners as active participants, provide a variety of classroom activities, and integrate the four skills
- Prepare thorough lesson plans and all materials needed for each class session, utilizing assigned textbooks and our online and physical resource libraries
- Assess student progress and achievement through appropriate, varied assessment means; notifying the EL Director when a student is in jeopardy of not passing a course
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date attendance records for all classes
- Provide student grades within 48 hours of course completion
- Keep EL Director informed of issues related to students and courses that need to be resolved
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Required
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- TESOL credential (i.e. a degree from an accredited university or a CELTA, PCELT, TEFL certificate) with a teaching practicum
- Extensive knowledge of the field of English language teaching, the communicative approach, and the learner-centered classroom
- Fluent English proficiency in all four skills
- Ability to adapt to a new culture and learner needs within a different context
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in English language teaching
- 2 years’ minimum classroom English teaching experience
- Experience teaching SAT, TOEFL, and/or TOIC prep classes
- Experience teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP)
- Understanding of English as a world language/foreign language
- Flexibility in teaching young learners as well as adults

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The incumbent in this position will work in a professional office environment and will utilize the following equipment when working from the corporate office or remote home office (either on a full time, temporary, or hybrid basis).
